Constitution for Lumen
Verum Apologetics -
An Association of Christ’s Faithful
-
The association of Christ’s
faithful hereafter referred to shall be known as Lumen
Verum Apologetics (LVA). Lumen Verum means “True Light.”
-
LVA is a private association
of the lay faithful with the principal and common purpose of striving
to foster and promote Christian teaching and Catholic apologetics.
Its members may also devote themselves to other works of the apostolate,
including initiatives for evangelisation, works of piety or charity,
and those which animate the temporal order with the Christian spirit
(Can. 298: 1; Can. 299: 1 & 2).
-
Members of LVA strive to foster
and promote Christian teaching and Catholic apologetics as lay faithful
in accordance with our baptism and confirmation which “gives
us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the
faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess
the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross”
(CCC 1303); “the confirmed person receives the power to profess
faith in Christ publicly and as it were officially (quasi ex officio)”
(CCC 1305).
-
It is the stated policy of LVA
not to associate with or promote any alleged apparition/vision/allocution
or message which has not been officially declared worthy of belief
by the Church; nor does LVA have a public position concerning liturgical
preferences; nor does LVA engage in or countenance any criticism
of the Holy Father or the Official Magisterium of the Church.
-
LVA is centred in the parish
of St. Michael the Archangel, Margaret Street, Belfield, Sydney,
Australia.
-
The governing structure of
LVA is follows:

• Subconvenor - Robert Haddad
• Other Board members:

Decisions concerning LVA are
made by the Convenor in consultation with the Subconvenor. The Convenor
and Subconvenor together have the right and authority to make particular
norms concerning LVA, the holding of meetings, the administration
of goods and resources, and on-going activities. The Convenor is
at liberty to consult any other Board member or the Parish Priest
of St. Michael’s when and as she sees fit.
-
Members of LVA must be practicing
Catholics well versed in the Faith and possessing an apostolic spirit
and desire to spread the Faith and defend it in accord with the
words of St. Peter: “Always be prepared to make a defence
to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you,
yet do it with gentleness and reverence” (1 Pet. 3, 15). No
member may be excluded or any new member admitted without the consent
and agreement of both the Convenor and Subconvenor.
-
LVA aims to carry out its objects
through lectures, seminars and conferences. These may be held at
the initiative of LVA or in response to invitations and requests
accordingly received. LVA also aims to distribute appropriate literature
