That virginity is good I do agree. But that it is even better than marriage, this I
do confess and if you wish, I will add that it is as much better than marriage as
heaven is better than earth, as much better as the angels are better than men. And
if there were any other way in which I could say it even more emphatically, I would
do so.
Homilies on the Epistle to the Ephesians (Inter 392-397 AD):

Seek the things which are of God, and those which are of man will easily follow.
Govern your wife and the whole house will be in harmony accordingly. Hear what
Paul says, And if they wish to learn anything, let them ask their husbands at
home. If we thus regulate our own homes, we shall also be ready for the
management of the Church. For indeed, a home is a church in miniature. So, by
becoming good husbands and wives, we can surpass all others...Consider
Abraham, and Sarah, and Isaac, and the three hundred and eighteen born in his
house. How the whole house was harmoniously knit together, how it was filled
with piety, and fulfilled the injunction of the Apostle. She also reverenced her
husband, for hear her words: It has not yet happened to me until now and my
husband is old also. And the young child was virtuous and the slaves born in the
house were excellent too.
Homilies on the First Epistle to Timothy (Inter 392-397 AD):

...priests are the Fathers of all, it is their duty to attend to all their spiritual
children, edifying them first by a holy life, and afterwards by salutary
instructions.
Homily on Galatians (Inter 393-397 AD):

He says, to visit Peter; he does not say to see (heiden), but to visit and survey
(historesai), a word which those, who seek to become acquainted with great and
splendid cities, apply to themselves. Worthy of such trouble did he consider the
very sight of Peter; and this appears from the Acts of the Apostles also.
Homily on 2 Thessalonians (C. 400 AD):
